8th Annual Foreign Body Pediatric Airway Endoscopy Course

The Center for Pediatric Airway Disorders and the Center for Simulation, Advanced Education and Innovation present the 8th Annual Foreign Body Pediatric Airway Endoscopy Course on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This is a course intended for junior ENT residents to upgrade their endoscopy skills. This year's keynote speaker is Katherine J. Kuchenbecker, PhD, Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics and Computer and Information Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and Applied Science.

The course will feature additional lectures and an Airway Simulator Lab and a Piglet Foreign Body Lab for hands-on experience with foreign body removal in children.

Lectures will be held in the morning and are open to all without charge. The lab tuition fee is $250 per resident/attendee to offset the costs of coordinating the course. Checks are to be made payable to “The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.” There is no charge to attend only the lectures.

Faculty invited to participate

Faculty are invited to assist with this course, are are asked to email course coordinator Beth Ann McCullough or call 215-590-1582 by Feb. 28 to confirm participation. Faculty will be asked to arrive by 6 p.m. on Friday, March 21 for orientation and course preparation. A light meal will be served. A dinner for participating faculty will be held Saturday evening. A full schedule and directions will be sent in March. Faculty are responsible for expenses. For those who need a hotel, we recommend the Inn at Penn (215-573-6211) or the Sheraton University City (215-387-8000).
