Public education is one of the services the Poison Control Center provides. The best way to reduce the number and severity of poison exposures is to teach people — especially young children and their families — how to poison-proof their homes.
Children are the most frequent victims of poisonings — the majority of our calls involve children 6 years of age or younger. Parents, siblings, grandparents and other family members can learn how to protect young children from accidents and, in the event of an exposure, how to call the Poison Control Center immediately.
