Opportunities are offered for both clinical and basic research. Our Department has cutting-edge technology in all the imaging modalities, and many research initiatives. Experienced clinical researchers, physicists and research assistants within the Department of Pediatric Radiology are available to work with the fellow. There are exciting research possibilities with 3T MR imaging, 64-detector CT scanning, PET/CT imaging, SPECT CT and magnetoencephalography. Our Department works in close collaboration with several other teams in the University of Pennsylvania system, and we can benefit from their outstanding research programs. We also have a state of the art transitional research building with animal research support on utilizing all radiology modalities.
The fellow is expected to work on at least one research project, which will be submitted as an abstract to a major Radiology meeting such as the RSNA or the SPR and is to be submitted for publication (not necessarily in the actual year of fellowship. This can be submitted in the year following completion of fellowship). We will provide ample teaching support for this academic experience so that it is rewarding and fun.
