Cleaning Your PAP Equipment

To keep your machine working properly, it is important to keep the machine and all the parts clean.

Acceptable cleaning products

Mild soap and tap water should be used to clean all the parts of your machine. Products that are abrasive such as cleanser, bleach, alcohol and disinfectants (Lysol®) can be damaging and cause discoloration to the machine parts.

Cleaning the outside of the machine

  1. Unplug the machine.
  2. Wipe down the machine with a damp cloth when it is dusty.
  3. Allow the machine to thoroughly dry before plugging it back into the wall.
  4. Clean the outside of the machine once a week.
 

Cleaning the tubing

  1. Disconnect the tubing from the humidifier.
  2. Rinse the tubing with tap water every morning.
  3. Hang the tubing over a towel bar with both ends pointing toward the floor for drying.
  4. Once a week, soak the tubing for 20 minutes in warm water with a mild soap or in a solution of one part white vinegar and one part tap water.
  5. Rinse the tubing thoroughly with tap water.
  6. Hang the tubing over a towel bar with both ends pointing toward the floor for drying.
 

Cleaning the humidifier

  1. Unplug the machine
  2. Let the humidifier cool for 15 minutes before removing it from the machine.
  3. Empty the water out of the sink.
  4. Wash the tak with warm tap water and mild soap once a week.
 

Cleaning the mask

  1. Wash the mask every day.
  2. Use mild soap and water and let it air dry.
 

Cleaning the filters

  1. Wash the gray filter once a week with warm tap water and mild soap.
  2. Allow the filter to air dry.
  3. Place the filter back in the machine once it is thoroughly dry.
  4. Replace the gray filter only if it is lost or damaged.
  5. Check the white filter for dirt once a week if the machine has one.
  6. Replace the white filter if it is dirty or torn, or replace it every 90 days.
