Overview

The Spina Bifida Program is an interdisciplinary, comprehensive program for the evaluation and long-term management of children from birth through adolescence with spina bifida, cord injuries or other spinal cord defects. Team members include a pediatrician, nurse, social worker, physical therapist, neurosurgeon, orthopaedist, urologist and genetics counselor.

Referrals are arranged for additional consultations within The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, including radiology, ophthalmology, endocrinology, genetics, allergy and nutrition. Ongoing communication is maintained with the primary care physician, schools and community services. Coordinated care is provided in both the outpatient and inpatient setting.
