Center for Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome

Patient Stories

Thoracic insufficiency syndrome is so rare that very few facilities have the expertise to successfully treat children with the disorder.

The Center for Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome at CHOP draws patients from around the world for treatment by our expert multidisciplinary team lead by the physician/inventor who created the vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib (VEPTR) — the most advanced treatment for the disorder.

In this section, families treated by the Center share their stories to provide support to other families facing similar circumstances.
