Injury Prevention
As a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is active in preventing children and adolescents from ever becoming seriously injured. We do this by:
- Committing to our leadership role in keeping children safe
- Providing trauma prevention education and awareness programs and events in communities throughout southeastern Pennsylvania
- Offering safety products through the Kohl's Safety Center
- Influencing laws and policies to improve children's safety
- Undertaking research that will advance our understanding of the causes and best methods of preventing childhood trauma
- Acting as a lead organization for the Safe Kids Southeastern Pennsylvania Coalition
- Opening Kohl's Safety Center, the first of its kind in Pennsylvania

The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is part of Safe Kids Worldwide, a long-term effort to prevent unintentional childhood injury — the number one killer of children ages 14 and under. Kohl's Safety Center
Kohl's Safety Center helps families protect their children from unintentional injuries through education and product distribution. The Center is staffed by health educators who are trained to teach parents how to use safety products. Safety products are priced just above cost with limited, free products for those who meet income eligibility guidelines.
