Title. Amygdala Gene Expression: Learning in a Sensitive Period
Project Number. NIH R01 MH054183
Role. Principal Investigator
Years. 10/1/06-9/30/11
Goals. The project uses a recently developed model of learned preference for cues associated with abusive caretaking in infant rats to understand the neural mechanisms underlying this paradoxical preference and its switch to an adult-like aversion. It is a collaborative application with the University of Oklahoma.
Title. Ontogenetic changes in injury-induced gene expression”
Project Number. NIH/NINDS R01 NS047159
Role: Principal Investigator
Years. 3/1/04-3/28/09 (no cost extension)
Goals. This work describes gene expression changes in spinal cord after noxious insult in infants and in adult injured as infants. The goal is to identify genetic changes induced by injury during a critical period of development and to assess their role in subsequent hypersensitivity to pain.
Title. Gene expression after acute and chronic injury and rescue
Project Number. New York State #SCIR04BARG
Role. Principal Investigator
Years. 01/01/06-12/31/10
Goals. The proposal examines gene expression in red nucleus of the hindbrain following axotomy by spinal cord transection and transplants of peripheral nerve in rats. It is a collaborative project with Drexel University College of Medicine.
