Ongoing Research

Researchers are using a large combined pediatric and adult patient database and sample repository for patients with acquired aplastic anemia and inherited bone marrow failure conditions to study both the genetic underpinnings of these disorders, as well as patterns of acquired genetic mutations and chromosomal changes that may predict the development of leukemia.

Research is underway to improve the durability, efficiency, and reliability of post-transplantation hematopoietic stem cell engraftment.

Clinical trial protocols are being developed to match appropriate bone marrow transplantation procedures to specific types of nonmalignant hematologic disease.
