The Advanced Personalized Therapeutics and Precision Surgery (ATPTS) Program in Childhood Cancers is “next-level” precision medicine. The program is redefining pediatric cancer care by tailoring medical treatment to the specific vulnerabilities in a child’s tumor, such as genes or proteins. By profiling tumors, we are not only identifying genetic targets but discovering newer, more effective personalized therapies.

The program is structured around three aims:

  • A precision medicine clinic to identify genetic vulnerabilities
  • A precision approach to surgery that informs decision-making during the surgical procedure
  • A research program to identify new targets for cell therapy in pediatric cancers

The ATPTS Program will expand the number of children benefiting from precision medicine and increase the number of therapeutic options available to patients.

How we serve you

The ATPTS Program brings together CHOP experts in developmental therapeutics, rare tumors, genomic diagnostics, health informatics, neurosurgery and more. This team is determined to create a new era for personalized medicine in cancer care, aimed at saving more children with cancer while maximizing their quality of life.

Conditions we treat

Our program’s current focus is on certain types of cancer.

Why choose us

The APTPS Program builds upon initial research efforts from CHOP’s Center for Precision Medicine for High-risk Pediatric Cancer. We profile children's tumors in-house at CHOP, identify their unique genetic vulnerabilities, and develop new therapies for those children through clinical trials.
