The Drug Reaction Evaluation and Management (DREAM) Program offers personalized evaluations for children with drug allergies. These include common drug allergies, including allergies to penicillin and other antibiotics, as well as allergies to ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. We also care for children with more rare drug allergies, such as allergies to anesthetic agents, biologics and chemotherapy, as well as children with allergic reactions to vaccines.

Drug allergy evaluations are important and help confirm or rule out allergies to medications through specialized testing. This allows children to obtain the safest and most effective treatments for their conditions. We individualize each child’s evaluation and management plan, which may include skin testing and/or a graded drug challenge. If indicated and appropriate, we also arrange for a drug desensitization to allow a child to more safely receive a medication that cannot be avoided.

The DREAM Program is the only comprehensive program in the region, and one of the few in the nation, dedicated to diagnosing and treating children with drug allergies.
