T&A Triage with or without Preoperative Polysomnography Clinical Pathway – Inpatient and Outpatient Specialty Care

Assessment by Anesthesia Resource Center (ARC)

Patients with complex medical conditions requiring anesthesia must have a pre-procedure history & physical (PPHP) within 30 days of the scheduled procedure by the ARC This can be completed through a face-to-face visit or No Pre-visit phone encounter. The No Pre-visit phone encounter is for complex patients who have multiple general anesthesia encounters within a one-year time frame.

Face-to-Face Visit
  • Completed by a trained MD, APP, or PA trained to complete a PPHP
  • Includes clinicians in:
    • Otolaryngology
    • General Surgery
    • Gastroenterology
    • Anesthesia Resource Center clinicians
  • More complex visits have a face-to-face visit
No Pre-Visit (NPV)
  • A phone call is completed by trained RN, APP, MD
  • For complex patients who have multiple general anesthesia encounters within
    a 1-year timeframe
  • On the day of the procedure APP/MD assumes full ownership of the H&P
