Anna grew up in Birmingham, AL, and received her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon in Sociology and Women's Studies. She went on to work as a parole and probation officer for Lane County, OR, and then relocated to San Francisco where she was Assistant Program Supervisor at a group home for teen moms before deciding to pursue a career in nursing. After completing the BSN/MSN program at University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing she worked in Birmingham for 5 years as a women's health nurse practitioner providing prenatal care for underserved women and families through the public health department. Prior to relocating to Philadelphia to join the lactation team at CHOP, Anna worked as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant at the University of Alabama Birmingham.
