COVID-19 Vaccine Program

As a COVID-19 vaccination provider, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) provides vaccinations according to guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state and local departments of health. (Updated: September 2023)

What You Need to Know

As of September 11, 2023, bivalent mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are no longer recommended in the United States.

To be up-to-date on COVID-19 vaccination, all individuals 5 years and older, regardless of whether or not you have been vaccinated before, should receive one dose of an updated 2023–2024 vaccine, in accordance with CDC guidance.

Children aged 6 months to 4 years may need multiple doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to be up to date, including at least one dose of the updated 2023–2024 vaccine, depending on their age and the number of doses they’ve already received.

Immunocompromised individuals may need additional doses of the updated vaccine in accordance with CDC guidance.

For the most recent COVID-19 vaccine guidance, view this information from the CDC.

What You Can Do Now
