Background

Omonigho Ekhomu, MD, MSCR, FAAP, received her BS in Biological Sciences with minor in Chemistry and Writing. Subsequently, received her MD from the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine. She completed her residency from John H. Stroger Hospital residency program and her cardiology fellowship from Rush Children’s Hospital. She is particularly interested in interventional cardiac catheterization. She is Board Certified with the American Board of Pediatrics.

Dr. Ekhomu has a passion for research and obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Research. She worked as a research assistant in our ECHO lab with Dr. Laura Mercer-Rosa analyzing a Tetralogy of Fallot co-hort. She received training in Echo software technology and Tomtec for measuring right atrial and single ventricle strain.

Dr. Ekhomu is passionate about improving pediatric welfare, community and public health. In addition, she enjoys community service, participating in medical missions and mentoring for local minority high school students.

Prospective cohort study of TOF patients in early post-operative period. Examining changes in different echocardiographic parameters especially right atrial strain in understanding evolution of diastolic dysfunction in this subset of patients. Presented as poster at Cardiology 2019 Conference at two different sessions. Manuscript is being prepared for official submission. Spet 2019.
