About Mara Rosner, MD, MPH

Mara Rosner, MD, MPH, is a maternal-fetal medicine specialist in the Richard D. Wood Jr. Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT) and Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of complex fetal conditions, with particular expertise in twin pregnancies, fetal brain imaging (neurosonography), fetal surgical interventions and first-trimester diagnosis.

Dr. Rosner’s path to maternal-fetal medicine began early. While earning her medical degree and master’s in public health from Tulane University, she was drawn to maternal and child health. During her fellowship at CHOP in 2007, she discovered the transformative field of fetal therapy. “There’s something miraculous about sitting beside a patient and seeing their baby on ultrasound,” she says. “That sense of wonder has never faded.”

After training at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, Dr. Rosner went on to faculty roles at New York University and then Johns Hopkins University, where she performed hundreds of fetal interventions and led research focused on identical twin pregnancies and in utero therapies for rare conditions such as spinal muscular atrophy. Her work has appeared in leading journals including the Journal of the American Medical Association and Ultrasound in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

At CHOP, Dr. Rosner is excited to rejoin the team that first inspired her, collaborating with world experts to advance fetal therapy and improve outcomes for families. Her philosophy of care centers on compassion, education and respect for each family’s values.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys yoga, time with her husband and children, and cheering on her daughter’s dance performances.
