The 98.1 WOGL Loves Our Kids Radiothon was another wonderful success! Thanks to thousands of generous supporters, we raised more than $300,000 to support For Tomorrow’s Breakthroughs: The Campaign for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
The 2017 Radiothon, held Dec. 7-8, was the 16th annual event and featured inspirational stories from some of amazing patients and their families. Hear two of their stories.
Maddi was only 5 years old when she was in a traumatic accident while on a family vacation in Mexico. Her foot slipped on a restaurant balcony, and Maddi fell 20 feet onto concrete. Her mother insisted Maddi be flown to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where a team of clinicians treated the girl’s seven skull fractures, two fractured vertebrae and fractured femur. Today, Maddi is 7 years old and doing great.
Gavin was 2 years old when his mom brought him to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for a second opinion on a heart condition. CHOP doctors discovered Gavin was hours away from having a life-threatening stroke. After witnessing the dedicated care Gavin received, his mom transferred all of his medical care to CHOP, including treatment for sickle cell disease. Now 10 years old, Gavin is mature, compassionate and interested in helping others.
