Overview

The aim of this program is to broaden nurses’ and other clinicians’ perspectives and knowledge of adolescents, while addressing the following topics:

  • Eating disorders
  • Transition to adult care
  • LGBTQI and gender identity
  • Suicide prevention, self-harm and depression
  • Additional current issues affecting adolescents

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Increase nurses’ and other clinicians’ comfort and awareness in caring for adolescents
  • Enhance interpersonal communication skills between adolescents and their nurses/clinicians
  • Broaden nurses’ awareness of current issues affecting adolescent health and wellness
  • Provide skills for establishing nurse-patient rapport that empowers adolescents to partner in their own care
