Management of Autism and ADHD in Primary Care

Overview

In this half day conference, providers will explore management strategies for patients with diagnoses of ADHD or Autism Spectrum Disorder in the primary care setting. The overlap in symptoms between these diagnoses, as well as common comorbidities, will also be addressed as management challenges. A mixture didactic instruction and case-based presentations will allow the learners to apply the materials discussed into real-world cases and leave with practical management strategies. Faculty include specialists from a variety of subspecialties, offering multiple styles and viewpoints in managing patients.

Objectives

  1. Evaluate reasons why a patient with ADHD may not respond to stimulants and alternative treatment approaches.
  2. Determine psychopharmacologic management of behavioral challenges in patients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  3. Explore the intersection of ADHD, ASD, and Learning Differences and how comorbid diagnoses change management plans.
  4. Practice management decisions in patients with ADHD and/or ASD in a facilitated case-based format.
