The Guts and Bolts of IBS: Learn How to Manage GI Symptoms

Irritable Bowel Syndrome Education Day is open to all children with IBS and their families. During the event, attendees will hear from CHOP experts about IBS and the medical, nutritional, behavioral and integrative health approaches to management.

We will be offering four breakout sessions to choose from. During registration, families will be asked to choose two of the four sessions they plan to attend:

  • Session 1: "Making the Most of The Brain-gut Connection: Cognitive Coping Strategies for IBS Symptoms"
  • Session 2: "Integrative Approach to IBS"
  • Session 3: “Addressing IBS at School: Accommodation Options and Coping Strategies”
  • Session 4: “The Use of Clinical Hypnosis in Treating Pediatric Pain”

We will also offer an IBS Kickoff Support Group for families/patients interested in participating (offered to patients ages 12 and up).

Educational and fun activities will be provided for all patients 5 and older. Children younger than 5 must remain with an adult.

Registration and parking

The registration fee is $10 per family. When you register, you must register for one paid ticket. You can register additional attendees for free.

Please RSVP by 7 a.m. on April 8, 2019.

Parking will be available in the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care parking garage, Level B. A voucher will be provided for free parking.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will refund any registration fees, less a $5 service charge, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. In order to process refunds, cancellation must be received through email at by Monday, April 8, 2019. No refunds will be issued after April 8.
