Hyperinsulinism — Novel Genes, Drugs and Guidelines

Date:
Apr 13, 2023-Apr 14, 2023, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. (ET)

Overview

This two-day international symposium will review exciting developments in the field of hyperinsulinism, including novel genetic causes, new care guidelines and promising investigational therapies. The symposium is intended to enhance the knowledge and practice of endocrinologists, neonatologists, surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, geneticists and nurses as well as basic scientists interested in islet cell biology. The symposium faculty, leaders in the field of hyperinsulinism, will present over 20 plenary lectures on the biology, genetics and clinical aspects of hyperinsulinism. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with the faculty through several expert panels and breakout sessions.

Objectives

  1. Review the pathophysiology of hyperinsulinism and novel insights into islet cell function.
  2. Discuss genetic etiologies of hyperinsulinism, including recently identified genes, and understand the role of genetic testing in management.
  3. Review optimal short-term and long-term management of individuals with hyperinsulinism, including new clinical care guidelines.
