“The Next Chapter,” An Altered Bookmaking Art Therapy Group for Caregivers

3E "Fish Bowl" Conference Room, Main Building
34th and Civic Center Blvd., 3rd Floor East, Philadelphia, PA 19104  Map

Sep 11, 2014 from 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. (ET)

Art therapy is the process of expressing feelings and processing your life experience through art-making. In this group we make art through altered books. Instead of using a blank piece of paper, you make art within a book that already exists, so it becomes a kind of visual journal.

The idea is that you have the power to change and rewrite the story of your life. Art-making is a unique way to escape stress and find new meaning in difficulty. This group, led by art therapists Hope Heffner and Abbien Crowley, is held every Thursday in the conference room on 3E (the “Fish Bowl”) from 5-6 p.m.

This group is for caregivers of patients being treated at CHOP. For questions about groups, contact your social worker. Volunteers may be available to stay with your child during groups. Contact group leaders for help finding childcare.
