Pediatric Neurology for the Non-Neurologist

Date:
Jun 23, 2021 from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. (ET)

Overview

Peter H. Berman, MD, former Chief of the Division of Neurology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia once said at the Child Neurology Society Annual Meeting, “Child neurologists don't need to see every child whose problems lie in the central or peripheral nervous system. But they must do a better job with training pediatricians to recognize neurology problems in children and to know when referrals to child neurologists are necessary”. This program will highlight common pediatric neurology diagnosis and provide commonsense guideposts for non-neurologists to manage and refer these patients appropriately.

Learning objectives

  1. Review appropriate diagnosis, evaluation, and prognosis of simple and complex febrile seizures
  2. Describe and treat common types of pediatric headaches
  3. Recognize red flags signaling the need for further evaluation in a floppy baby
  4. Explain the most common non paroxysmal events in infants
  5. Identify typical presentations of childhood tics and when to pursue further evaluation
