Course overview

This live activity will offer continuing education focused on neonatal and pediatric patients and includes topics in both patient safety and medical ethics. All lectures may be used to fulfill the NBRC’s five-year continuing education requirement for the N.P.S. credential as well as toward the Pennsylvania state R.T. licensing requirement.

Course Objectives

At the completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Describe how bronchoscopy, lung occlusion and PEEP grids are used to determine the surgical approach for treatment of hyperinflated lungs
  • Identify components of the Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle
  • State the best strategies to translate new science into practice
  • Explain how Fontan physiology can cause the development of plastic bronchitis
  • Discuss the Respiratory Therapy Department and therapist role in assisting with bronchoscopy
  • Recognize differences between character, integrity and moral development
  • Review the pathophysiology of pediatric ARDS
