Building on the legacy of the late Professor Kwaku Ohene-Frempong, the Global Health Center partners with the Department of Child Health at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana’s largest tertiary hospital, and with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. The objectives of the Ghana-CHOP partnerships are to: 

1. Train, mentor, and cultivate future pediatric Global Health leaders - both in Ghana and in Philadelphia.  
   1. Learn more about CHOP Global Health rotations and supported observerships. 
2. Develop and maintain a dynamic, mutually beneficial Global Health partnership between colleagues in Ghana and CHOP that reflects priority pediatric needs in Ghana while leveraging both Ghana and CHOP's strengths.  
3. Facilitate high-impact research in Ghana that leverages both Ghana and CHOP's strengths to inform and serve the needs of children in Ghana and throughout the world.  

Research

Research collaborations in Ghana have included projects exploring the introduction of electronic medical records, the impact of KMC on neonatal infections, simulation training to improve pediatric acute care for sepsis and shock, pediatric resuscitation, point-of-care ultrasound, and viral load suppression among pregnant and nursing women.
