Funding Priorities
Every gift to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) makes a meaningful impact, fueling compassionate care and advancing groundbreaking discoveries. Any area of research, clinical department or program you choose to support will help us continue to create hope and healing for children everywhere. At the heart of this mission are the initiatives that promise the greatest impact on the children, families and communities we serve.
These are the projects that currently take priority.
Fueling limitless possibilities
The Children’s Fund is essential to powering the people, places and programs at CHOP with support that is not limited to a specific use. From launching tech-based therapeutic programs and supporting fellows to enabling fun events for patients and easing the financial burden on patient-families, the fund touches all areas of the Hospital. Your gift to the fund helps CHOP respond quickly to urgent needs while advancing innovative pediatric care and research.
Building for the future
So much more than glass and steel, facilities provide the cutting-edge infrastructure, state-of-the-art equipment and collaborative spaces that make miracles and breakthroughs — small and large — possible every day at CHOP. These structures are essential to attracting and retaining the best pediatric talent to translate research into tangible treatments for children.
Spanning patient care and research, CHOP has four main spaces where your philanthropic support can make big difference: Roberts Children’s Health at CHOP, Morgan Center for Research and Innovation, Behavioral Health and Crisis Center and The Hub for Clinical Collaboration.

Advancing breakthrough research
For a century, CHOP Research Institute has advanced breakthrough treatments and innovations that have changed lives and pushed pediatric scientific knowledge forward. It’s truly amazing what an elite scientific research institution can accomplish with an engaged professional community, shared resources on a premier academic campus, and a commitment to excellence at a world-renowned children’s hospital. From laboratory discoveries and new public policies to health gains and specialized treatments, all this is made possible thanks to generous donors like you who help ensure every child has hope for a brighter future.

Supporting mental health
As communities across the nation struggle with a crisis in mental and behavioral health, CHOP is stepping up to address unprecedented demands for treatment. To accomplish this, we are incorporating mental health evaluations and treatment in more primary care locations and opening new spaces specifically designed to help children and their families in need of mental or behavioral health care.
One of CHOP’s newest facilities is the Behavioral Health and Crisis Center (BHHC). It is home to our first inpatient psychiatry unit, a 24/7 crisis response center and a crisis stabilization unit — all created to serve children with acute needs while providing hope and healing in a supportive environment. Your support ensures CHOP has the brightest minds, most impactful programs and innovative treatment spaces to meet the needs of even more children seeking help.

Powering progress in autism research
Rooted in a collaboration between world-renowned centers in pediatric research and academic medicine, the Lurie Autism Institute is poised to make fresh discoveries that will reshape how we understand and treat autism. The Institute, the first of its kind, brings together the brightest research minds from CHOP and Penn Medicine to drive discoveries with transformative impact for those living with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) — from children to adults.
Your gift today to the Institute will help fund the future of autism research, changing countless lives through new discoveries and treatments.
