By the Numbers: Division of Endocrinology and Diabetes

The Division of Endocrinology is made up of 9 programs working together to provide specialized, patient-centered care. Our multidisciplinary team of experts includes 31 faculty members, 12 fellows, and 17 nurse practitioners. During this time period, the Division completed 169 publications and gave 79 lectures at conferences and academic institutions. The Congenital Hyperinsulinism Center

By the Numbers More than 1,300children with congenital HI treated More than 524pancreatectomies performed More than 39218F-DOPA PET scans performed More than 215focal disease patients surgically cured All numbers reflect data from the HI Center's opening in 2004 to June 2019 at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

The Congenital Hyperinsulinism Center cared for 672 patients from July 2018 to June 2019 in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, resulting in 1,279 visits. This includes patients from 48 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and 18 foreign countries.

In addition to "typical" hyperinsulinism, since 2004 the HI Center treated 54 rare HI surgical cases, including those with atypical congenital HI and Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, and 19 children with insulinomas

Over the last 4 years, The Thyroid Center team has had 39 publications on thyroid disorders published. The team has also given 99 lectures at academic institutions both nationally and internationally in recent years.

The Diabetes Center is structured with a unique team approach with a consistent multidisciplinary team caring for designated cohorts of ~300 patients each. Patients have access to cutting-edge clinical research studies, community-based and group support as well as innovative education programs.
