Children’s ibuprofen recall: what families need to know
You may have seen on the news that there is a nationwide recall affecting 4-ounce bottles of children’s ibuprofen liquid (berry flavor). It can feel confusing or upsetting to learn about a product recall, especially if your child has used it.
The product was manufactured by Strides Pharma for Taro Pharmaceuticals. It is being recalled because it may contain unsafe particles.
This medicine is often used for fever and pain in children ages 2–11, although it may be used in children as young as 6 months.
What was recalled?
- Children’s Ibuprofen Oral Suspension (100 mg per 5 mL)
- 4 oz (120 mL) bottles
- Lot numbers:
- 7261973A
- 7261974A
- Best by date: January 31, 2027
Why was it recalled?
Some families reported seeing thick, gel-like clumps, and black particles in the liquid.
While no serious adverse events have been reported, we like to be especially sure we are being careful by discarding any affected product.
What should I do if I have this product at home?
- Check the bottle for the lot number (on the label)
- Stop using it right away if it matches the recall
- Return it to the store or throw it away
What if my child had already taken it?
- Most children are expected to be okay
- If you notice anything unusual or have concerns, call your child’s care team
