Did You Know? ... 107 Pediatric Influenza Deaths

Published on in Parents PACK

So far, during the current (2014-15) influenza season, 107 children in the United States have died from influenza — that’s more than five full kindergarten classes. Most people think “the flu” is not that dangerous, but sadly, more than 100 new families in the U.S. would likely feel differently. For them, the day their child became ill with “the flu” will be etched in their memory. More than half of these children were previously healthy.

Bar graph. Death with High Risk Underlying Medical Condition: 2011-12 about 51%, 2012-13 about 56%, 2013-14 about 53%, 2014-15 about 35%
