October 30, 2013 — CHOP allergy specialist Nicholas Pawlowski, MD, says that allergies often fall into seasons, so parents should look for patterns to determine allergens, and then cut a child’s exposure to these allergens as a first tactic for controlling allergies.

Dr. Pawlowski’s patient Christopher Arriviello, 5, is allergic to trees, grass, dust, mold, weeds, cats and dogs and has been receiving allergy shots at CHOP to help desensitize him to his triggers. His allergy shots and asthma action plan have helped keep his allergies and asthma under control.

In this 6ABC segment Dr. Pawlowski gives parents tips on recognizing and managing a child’s allergies.
