On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) hosted Cheers for CHOP, presented by Laura and Jeffrey Goodman, at The Fillmore, to benefit CHOP’s Richard D. Wood Jr. Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment (CFDT).
Every dollar of the $1.36 million (and counting!) raised will help to fuel bold science, compassionate care and the next generation of fetal therapies and innovations that will transform lives. Since its inception, the annual event, now in its 12th year, has generated over $8 million for 12 diverse clinical areas at CHOP.
Cheers for CHOP brings together the area’s most philanthropic young influencers, including hundreds of donors, clinicians and friends of CHOP for a night of live entertainment, cocktails, delicious food, dancing and a one-of-a-kind silent auction, which this year included Jalen Hurts’ Game Worn My Cause My Cleats designed by CHOP patients.
“Since founding the CFDT three decades ago, my team and I have continued to study and evolve the practice of fetal surgery,” said Dr. N. Scott Adzick, Surgeon-in-Chief and the founder and Co-Director of the Richard D. Wood Jr. Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “The funds from this event will enable research aimed at developing novel techniques and treatments to enhance outcomes for children. At CHOP, we work to accelerate breakthroughs, giving kids the chance to grow and thrive.”
The CFDT at CHOP began with a bold idea: What if we could treat birth defects before a baby is even born? Since its founding, the Center has provided answers, hope and life-changing care to more than 35,000 families from all 50 states and over 70 countries. The Center has performed over 2,250 fetal surgeries — more than any hospital worldwide. From groundbreaking surgeries to delivering babies with birth defects within a children’s hospital to advanced gene therapies, the CFDT has turned what once seemed impossible into reality.
