The 3D Hearts Enabling A Randomized Trial (3DHEART) aims to study the use of patient-specific 3D printed models in pre-operative planning for pediatric heart surgery. The study is being led by physicians from various children's hospitals, including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and up to 20 additional sites in the U.S. The study will focus on pediatric patients with congenital heart disease requiring complex two-ventricle repair, such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).
According to Dr. Yoav Dori, this technology will help improve surgery, improve outcomes and result in lower treatment costs.
