CHOP Alumni Tapped to Head AAP Education Department

David M. Jaffe, MD, FAAP, a noted researcher and educator in pediatric emergency medicine, was hired to lead the Department of Education at the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). The department oversees a wide array of continuing medical education programs for the organization's 64,000 members and other pediatric healthcare professionals. 

In his new role, Dr. Jaffe will be responsible for continuing medical education programs in more than 60 pediatric topic areas, including the AAP National Conference and Exhibition.

Jaffe spent his formative medical years at CHOP, as a pediatric resident and as a Robert Wood Johnson fellow in general academic pediatrics. He was one the first fellows in emergency medicine. Most recently, Jaffee was chief of the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of California San Francisco Benioff Children’s Hospital. Previously, Jaffe served for 24 years as director of pediatric emergency medicine at Washington University, St. Louis, MO.
