Leaders from The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Virtua were guest speakers at a Chamber of Commerce Southern New Jersey event on Feb. 7, 2014. Steven Altschuler, MD, CHOP CEO, and Richard P. Miller, Virtua president and CEO, discussed the organizations' successful partnership which brought CHOP services to Virtua’s pediatric emergency rooms, neonatal intensive care units and pediatric units at Virtua Voorhees Hospital and Virtua Memorial Hospital in 2011.
In fiscal year 2013, more than 33,100 pediatric patients were treated by CHOP physicians in the two Virtua locations. CHOP clinicians now provide low-dose imaging, a pediatric sleep lab and neonatal intensive care services in Virtua Voorhees’ Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Virtua Memorial’s Special Care Nursery. In addition, Virtua and CHOP partner on a telemedicine program where they consult on intensive care, neonatal intensive care, inpatient pediatric care, neurology, genetics and emergency care.
