CHOP Co-sponsors Sickle Cell Disease Conference

December 18, 2009 — The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia will partner with three other international healthcare organizations to co-sponsor the First Global Congress on Sickle Cell Disease on July 20-23, 2010, in Accra, Ghana, July 20-23, 2010.

The Congress will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first published paper on sickled cells in a patient with anemia. It will also bring together research scientists, public health officials, sickle cell organizations, and people with sickle cell disease from all over the world to address the many issues associated with sickle cell disease.
