CHOP Hosts Annual Association for the Bladder Exstrophy Community Conference

Published on in CHOP News

In June, the Division of Urology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia hosted the annual Association for the Bladder Exstrophy Community Conference. Many patients, families, providers and presenters gathered from across the globe to share and experience this year’s theme of “Collaboration in Action.” The three-day meeting began with welcome notes from Douglas Canning, MD, Chief of the Division of Urology.  From there, there were several breakout sessions designed for both parents and kids of all ages.

The conference provided a unique opportunity for physicians, families and patients to learn from one another about the medical, emotional and practical aspects of living with bladder exstrophy. It also gave kids a chance to be kids, and to socialize with others who they can relate to.
