CHOP Psychologist Discusses Kangaroo Care on 6ABC

Published on in CHOP News

CHOP Psychologist Casey Hoffman, PhD, was recently interviewed for a 6ABC story about how kangaroo care is helping extremely sick/vulnerable preemies (as well as all babies) in the N/IICU.

An hour a day of skin-to-skin contact with mom or dad works wonders. "It helps them maintain their body temperature, it really helps them establish more regular breathing patterns," explains Dr. Hoffman. "It can help their quality of sleep. And it can even help lessen their experience of pain when they have some minor procedures."
