The American Urological Association (AUA) recently announced a modernized structure to better align its international growth with its global footprint and to further develop wide-reaching collaborations and opportunities.

Aseem R. Shukla, MD, attending urologist and Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery in the Division of Urology at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), was one of three to receive a new Assistant Secretary position. Each individual has a distinct global geographic region of responsibility.

As Assistant Secretary, Dr. Shukla will play a critical role in supporting, shaping and executing the AUA’s international strategy, programming and activities in Asia and Australia. He will also assist in implementing the AUA’s International Education Plan, while identifying new opportunities with national and multi-national urological societies.

Dr. Shukla will continue to maintain relationships with key urologists and other strategic partners across the globe, participate in the AUA’s Annual Meeting and serve as a section editor for the AUA publication.
