One year ago, Emily Ruckle was transferred to The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for emergency care after she suffered critical injuries in a dog attack at her home in Delaware.
Since the attack, 9-year-old Emily has undergone approximately 11 surgeries to repair her shoulder and arm and may need more in the future. She continues physical and occupational therapy to work to regain her mobility.
On Sept. 27, Ines Lin, MD, a pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has cared for Emily, attended a special event hosted by the Ruckle family in Delaware. The event was organized to celebrate Emily’s progress and acknowledge all the people who helped Emily that day and over the past year, including the first responders and doctors who have treated her.
