Former CHOP Resident Named SUNY President

The State University of New York Board of Trustees appointed Danielle Laraque-Arena, MD, FAAP, as president of SUNY Upstate Medical University.

Laraque-Arena is a former pediatric resident and a Robert Wood Johnson fellow in general academic pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She has spent most of her career in New York, most recently serving as chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center, and vice president of Maimonides Infants and Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.

Laraque-Arena, who began her new post in January 2015, is the first woman to lead the university.
