November 13, 2013 — When Allison Magee was 13, she started to feel a pain in her neck. After going to the doctor and getting X-rays, the doctors saw that a small piece of her retainer had become stuck in her throat. But that wasn’t all they saw. Doctors also noticed that Allison’s thyroid was enlarged and they were almost 100 percent sure she had thyroid cancer. Allison was treated at CHOP’s Pediatric Thyroid Center, and now at age 15, she is cancer free.
