Happy New Year from the ODEI Team

ODI team CHOP's Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) team. As we welcome the New Year, we wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our partners, advocates, champions and allies. It has been a busy 2018 for diversity at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP): We added new team members, allocated more dedicated diversity resources, shored up our diversity education programs, and expanded our cultural offerings to include remote broadcasting, visiting other CHOP buildings and locations, and providing more patient and family activities.

We got to know our diverse employees through our cultural month spotlight series and diversity stories program in April. We talked about diversity — a lot! Our employee resource groups and physician affinity groups spent countless hours working in the community and with each other toward a stronger culture of inclusion at CHOP. We celebrated together, we shared traditions and practices with our colleagues, patients and families, and we came together to stop hate. We are actively working toward being comfortable and valuing our differences, eliminating stereotypes, and reducing our assumptions.

We look forward to doing more and expanding our offerings in 2019. We look forward to sharing our successes and documenting our outcomes in our diversity and inclusion journey.

We wish you and yours a happy and healthy New Year!
