Published on in CHOP News

Nadia L. Dowshen, MD, Director of the Gender and Sexuality Development Clinic, and Siobhan Costanzo, MEd, MPH, Research Director, write about their latest project called, “Photovoice: Empowering Transgender and Gender-Expansive Youth.” They used a community-engaged research methodology known as Photovoice to learn about what gender-affirmative care means for youth coming to Children's Hospital Philadelphia (CHOP), and to understand how as care providers and researchers they can better support them.

Dowshen and Costanzo's project highlights the importance of policies that affirm the identities of gender-diverse young people and ensure they have access the medical, social and educational support they deserve.
