National Nurses Week was held from May 6 – 12. The Cardiac Center at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) would like to recognize the hard work and dedication of our incredible nursing staff.
CHOP's PEARLS Awards recognize nurses who achieve excellence in their field, and two nurses from the Cardiac Center were named winners.
Leigh Ann Difusco
Heather Meldrum, RN, BSN, received the Nursing Leadership Award. It is awarded to a nurse who demonstrates the key leadership competencies of empowerment, effective communication, continuous learning, and effective management of change.
Leigh Ann Difusco, RN, MSN, PCNS-BC, received the Outstanding Clinical Practice Award, sponsored by The Caroline Langstadter Endowment. It is awarded to an advanced degree nurse who demonstrates key components of advanced nursing practice including leadership, advanced family centered clinical skills, research application, evidence-based practice, and mentoring.
The team was visited by a roving candy cart to show appreciation for the work everyone does each day. The treats were well received! Our nurses enjoyed a team-building barre class.
We are so grateful for the many dedicated and skilled nurses that care for patients and families each and every day!
