The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia announces the grand opening of the CHOP Specialty Care Center at Virtua in Voorhees, NJ. This is the latest expansion in the CHOP Care Network, which today has more than 50 locations throughout the region.

CHOP Specialty Care Center at Virtua is a 31,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art, facility specially designed to meet the needs of children with specialized care provided by CHOP physicians. The facility has 50 exam rooms, a wide range of diagnostic testing including a pulmonary function laboratory, extensive rehabilitation services and injury prevention education, nutritional counseling and large gymnasiums for physical and occupational therapy. The facility is adjacent to the Virtua Voorhees Hospital on Route 73.

“This new Specialty Care Center is a welcome addition to the renowned CHOP Care Network and helps us fulfill our mission of providing top-quality pediatric care to children close to their homes,” said Steven Altschuler, MD, chief executive officer of Children’s Hospital. “This new space makes it possible to expand our services right here in South Jersey, in a state-of-the-art, family-friendly location. The opening of this Specialty Care Center also marks another chapter in CHOP’s growing relationship with Virtua Hospital.”

The new office expands the top-ranked Children’s Hospital services available to families in South Jersey. CHOP will now offer cardiology, gastroenterology and orthopedics services at two locations in Voorhees. Services for pulmonology, neurology, EEG, physical therapy and occupational therapy will relocate to the new Virtua office from the existing site in Voorhees. Neonatology will also be added as a new service.

In addition to appointments with Children’s Hospital specialists, patients can schedule electrocardiograms (EKGs), echo cardiograms, and other diagnostic tests. The practice is at the new Virtua Health and Wellness Center, 200 Bowman Dr., 2nd Floor Suite D260, Voorhees, N.J.

Children’s Hospital and Virtua entered into a partnership in February 2011 that offers children and families in South Jersey access to the most advanced pediatric care at Virtua’s hospitals in Voorhees and Mount Holly. Close to 5,600 babies are delivered each year at the Voorhees campus, of which 780 are admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Virtua hospital NICU, pediatric intensive care unit and emergency department is staffed around the clock by members of CHOP's renowned team of pediatricians, nurse practitioners, and respiratory therapists. CHOP physicians are also available in Virtua’s inpatient pediatric units and Sleep Lab.
