The News & Observer Highlights Making of PBS Fetal Surgery Documentary

The News & Observer interviewed one of the families featured and the filmmakers of “TWICE BORN: Stories from the Special Delivery Unit” for a behind-the-scenes look at the making of this three-part documentary airing on PBS in spring 2015.

The series, which airs on PBS at 8 p.m. EST on March 31, April 7 and April 14, offers an inside look at the Center for Fetal Diagnosis and Treatment at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and its unique Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit. It follows four families expecting babies diagnosed with a wide range of birth defects, including a lower urinary tract obstructionspina bifida, a mouth tumor and twin-twin transfusion syndrome, as they make decisions about prenatal surgery.
