Aquatic therapy is a fun and effective way for children with Down syndrome to develop functional skills, build strength and improve total body coordination and body awareness, and learn water safety.

CHOP’s Physical Therapy Department is offering group physical therapy sessions in the pool. Both caregivers and children participate in the sessions, working toward a variety of benefits including learning handling skills, strengthening, problem solving, following directions, motor planning, coordination, and water safety skills such as bubble blowing and entering/exiting the pool.

Groups are currently forming for children ages 1 to 5 years of age. The next group session will start on March 21 and run every other Thursday from 11 a.m. to noon for six sessions.

Therapist Helen Milligan, MPT, will lead the group. Please call 215-590-5819 and ask for Angie to schedule an appointment for an evaluation prior to starting the group. Space is limited. Email Milligan@email.chop.edu with any questions.
