Recently, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) hosted The Runway, a contemporary lunchtime fashion show curated by top Philadelphia-area boutiques and designers, featuring a pop-up trunk show offering one-of-a-kind goods.

The event, presented by Lynne and Bill Garbose and took place at The Bellevue Hotel, raised more than $1.1 million to benefit the Harriet and Ronald Lassin Newborn/Infant Intensive Care Unit (N/IICU) at CHOP. With services at CHOP’s Philadelphia and King of Prussia locations, both N/IICUs have the technology and teams to provide the best care possible for very sick babies with health issues related to prematurity; birth defects; lung, heart and gastrointestinal conditions; and other disorders.

The season’s latest fashions were modeled by local celebrities and CHOP clinicians, patients and supporters of the hospital’s N/IICUs – comprised of teams who work together to create a place of healing and compassion.

“At CHOP, we know that having a baby admitted to the N/IICU can be an overwhelming experience for parents,” says Eric C. Eichenwald, MD, Chief of the Division of Neonatology at CHOP. “Our team tries to anticipate every possible need of a N/IICU baby and caregiver. Beyond the core medical providers, other N/IICU team members include physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, child life specialists, social workers, chaplains, music therapists and psychologists. The Runway is a celebration – it gives us the chance to celebrate the creativity of our fashion partners, the resilience of our patients and the impact we make when we come together.”
