Research Interests

Dr. Bassiri is a Pediatric Infectious Diseases specialist with a Ph.D. in Immunology. His interests include cellular cancer immunotherapy and mechanisms of pediatric hyperinflammation. His laboratory has continued to study the activation, signaling, function, and antitumor functions of iNKT and NK cells over the past decade. His team combines the multidisciplinary expertise of neuroblastoma biology and therapeutics with knowledge of lymphocyte biology and tumor immunology to investigate novel therapeutics, such as the use of immunomodulators, iNKT and CAR-T cells. As a Co-Director of CHOP’s Immune Dysregulation program, Dr. Bassiri and his lab also investigate mechanisms of pediatric hyperinflammation, including HLH, CRS and MIS-C.
