How to spot misleading claims
The Center for Unbiased Science and Health created a guide to help recognize the manipulation tactics behind health claims, whether in a social media post, a viral video or an ad. One piece of the guide is a checklist that can be printed and displayed as a poster. The checklist includes questions, such as “Is this claim trying to scare or inform me?” and it shares actionable steps, such as how to react and what tactics, such as emotional manipulation, to watch for. The resources also include digital and print flyers.

National Infectious Disease Test Positivity Trends Dashboard
ARUP Laboratories, a national nonprofit reference laboratory at the University of Utah, has started sharing test positivity trends on infectious pathogens. For vaccine-preventable diseases, this includes varicella zoster virus, pertussis and S. pneumoniae. While the data cannot replace comprehensive national disease surveillance, it can inform our understanding of national trends and help “detect unusual patterns, seasonal shifts and emerging activity.”
